Arrgh. A late frost hit the night of June 7 and it hit rather hard. The minimum for our area was -1.7 degrees Celsius. Looking at the climate data from Environment Canada, it looks like we may have received over four hours of below zero Celsius overnight. Now we usually get lower temperatures here in the valley so the tomatoes were under some cover – but not enough cover!
The frost was hard on the potatoe plants as well, I’m hoping they will come back with some new growth.
Some tomatoes were in a shed and they survived! A week ago I thought I may have started too many tomatoes … not any more.
