Today I’ve been working in the bilge, sealing up old screw holes with West System Epoxy.
Then I signed up for a MOOC!
According to the course designers, “Crafting an Effective Writer” is a course designed to help you review the basics of grammar and punctuation and discover your own unique writing voice in the process.
The course begins officially on February 10, 2014, and ends on March 17, 2014. There are five units in the course and each unit will take 4-5 hours to complete. There is a course guide that also serves as a syllabus for the class. It includes a complete schedule of assignments, policies for the class, grading information, contact information, descriptions of both Professor and Community TA roles, and other important information.
There is a welcome introductory video, and also a helpful video on how to navigate through the course. There will be quizzes, peer reviewed/assessed assignments, and students are asked to participate regularly in the discussion forums. There will be a “getting to know you” survey so that they can understand who takes the course and why.
So far several hundred students have signed up from all around the world. Cool!
