Well after two blister repairs and lots of prep, the primer went on today. We don’t know what type of paint the previous owner put on her. We could either strip her down to the gelcoat, or do a heavy sanding, or use a primer coat between the old paint and the new anti-fouling. We elected for the primer!
Many boat yards would just throw on the new paint and be done with it. But – we’ve had really good results in the past when we’ve followed the paint manufacturer’s instructions.
Still lots more to do. The hull still needs to be cleaned and some dings in the gelcoat fixed. We hope to get two coats of anti-fouling put on … etc etc.
